What is an Imagination Fair?

An Imagination Fair is a bit of a cross between a Science Fair and an Art Show. It is a space for homeschooled children of all ages to display, demonstrate and discuss the results of a specific project whether it be a scientific exploration, an artistic endeavor, or any other products of their creativity.

Projects can be any products of the imagination, including but not limited to artistic works including paintings, drawings, pottery, clay, sculptures; collections of shells, rocks, stamps, fossils; videos of music, animations, and performances; engineering contraptions including robots, models, architecture, dioramas, games, LEGO or Mindstorms creations; and many others not listed here.

For every mentor spoken to, each child will receive a sticker on their participation certificate.

Logo Contest

The Imagination Fair needs a logo! Homeschooled children ages 18 and under are invited to submit a design.

The logo will be selected using a ranked choice voting system by attendees of this year's Imagination Fair.

Submit your child's logo design to imagine(at)hsadventures(dot)org

Submissions must be received by 5pm on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

Imagination Fair organizers reserve the right to reject any logo and not present it for voting.

Logo requirements:

  • Pixel density should be 250 dpi (dots per inch) for printing on a 8x10-inch sheet.
  • Original art only (no use of stock art, not even royalty-free stock art)
  • Vector graphics (EPS, PDF) are preferred to bitmap graphics (PNG, JPG, TIF).
  • The design should lend itself to different formats, including websites, signage, publications, letterhead, and promotional items including clothing.
  • The design should be scalable, that is, the logo should look good and be legible in a range of sizes.
  • The design should reproduce well when printed in black and white / greyscale.

Getting there

Driving Directions: Rasmussen College-Blaine Campus is located less than ½ mile northeast of Exit 32 (95th Ave NE) off of I-35W.

Rasmussen College

Important: Your GPS will most likely lead you astray if you enter the address. Follow these directions instead:

From I-35W north or south, take Exit 32 for 95th Ave NE. At the top of the ramp, take a left onto 95th Ave NE and proceed east past the Eagle Brook Church on the left hand side of the road. The campus is directly behind the church, look for the large stone marquise that reads Blaine Preserve Business Park. Follow the road all the way into the parking lot. Enter the building through the middle set of doors.

To use your GPS, enter the following coordinates for the turn off to the parking lot:

Payment information

Payment must be received by: Thu, May 1, 2014 - 5:00pm

  1. Please plan to send your payment the same day that you register.

The organizer will expect to receive your payment within 3 days of your date of registration — or by the payment deadline above, whichever comes first.

  2. Immediately after you register, you will be emailed payment instructions from admin(at)homeschoolrecess(dot)com.

Make sure your email filters recognize this address as a legitimate sender. If you don't receive this email, please check your spam, junk or bulk mail folder. Contact the organizer if you are unable to find it; if you receive no response to your email, please call the organizer.

You are not officially registered until the organizer receives your payment.

  3. When the organizer records your payment, you will be emailed a payment receipt from admin(at)homeschoolrecess(dot)com.

If you've sent your payment and haven't received a payment confirmation, please contact the organizer by email or phone.

  4. If the organizer doesn't receive payment within 3 days of your date of registration or by the payment deadline, whichever comes first, the organizer may remove your family from the registration list.

You will be notified with an email from admin(at)homeschoolrecess(dot)com should this unfortunate event occur.

If you are unable to send payment immediately, please contact the organizer to make other arrangements. To help the organizer identify you in the registration database, please forward your payment instructions to the organizer along with your request. This protects the organizer from non-payment due to payment instructions blocked by overly aggressive spam protection.

  5. If you need to cancel your registration, please do so via an email request to the organizer.

Non-payment is not an acceptable way to cancel your registration. If you wish to cancel, please be respectful of the volunteer organizer's time and send an email request.

If you fail to send a cancellation request by the cancellation deadline, you will remain responsible for reimbursing the organizer for the cost of your family's participation.
