Dayton, MN- Car broken down? Winter storm? Stranded in the middle of nowhere? Prepare for your safety by learning the Rule of 3's and key components to winter survival. Learn the basic necessities by using your creativity to turn everyday objects into survival tools. Build a fort, fire, and first aid kit. Snowshoe (weather permitting) or hike out to remote woods that will allow you to test your skills and abilities. Take home a survival check list. Come dressed to spend the afternoon outside. Bring your own lunch. Reservations required.

Discover the sweet history of maple syruping through artifacts and a presentation. Enjoy sausage and pancakes covered with homemade pure maple syrup! Choose the morning or afternoon session. Res. Morning session: Discover how moving air creates weather. Use balloons to examine air pressure and frisbees to "see" wind. Measure weather with instruments and inspect weather maps. Create a picture with real clouds. Discover secrets of weather lore.

Afternoon session: Explore how water, wind, and gravity make weather happen. Use the sun to make rain. Create a tornado. Make a sunprint.

Use natural materials to create a nest and test its warmth. Compare animal furs and hike to find signs of active animals. Discover what they eat and where they go.
In the afternoon, explore how Native Americans and European trappers, loggers, and pioneers kept warm. Try making a fire with flint and steel, building a shelter, and searching for natural insulation. Reservations required.
