Controlling email you receive from HomeschoolRecess.com
HomeschoolRecess allows members to have fine gauge control of what the site emails to them, and how often. When a member joins a group, they are automatically subscribed to all group messages. These settings can be changed at the member's "notifications" page: http://homeschoolrecess.com/user/me/notifications
Here, a member can turn off all email temporarily by clicking on Temporarily disable all your subscriptions
or permanently by clicking on Cancel all your subscriptions
However you have lots of other options too. If you click on the "subscriptions" tab or follow this link: http://homeschoolrecess.com/user/me/notifications/subscriptions you can view all of your active subscriptions, and change how often email is sent for various subscriptions.
If you want to receive group notifications for field trips immediately, but only receive email about events once a week, here is how you could do that:
- Cancel the main group subscription (so you don't receive notifications twice) by clicking Cancel all your subscriptions on this page: http://homeschoolrecess.com/user/me/notifications
- Then click on "Content type in group" or follow this link: http://homeschoolrecess.com/user/me/notifications/add/grouptype and you will see this form:
The "group" is the name of the group that whose post's you're asking to receive. The "node type" (forgive the computer-speak) is the kind of post-- here we've chosen "event". The settings here would mean that you would receive a daily digest email of all events posted to the Minnesota Homeschooler group. Other options would be to receive each event immediately, or to receive hourly, twice daily, or weekly digests. Click on submit to save the subscription
To add another subscription to receive HomeschoolAdventure field trips immediately, repeat the process, choosing HomeschoolAdventures as the group and "Complete Field Trip" as the node type, and "immediately" as the send interval.
Please be aware that most events posted on the site are in the Minnesota Homeschooler Group or the Wisconsin Homeschooler group. Homeschool Adventures posts are almost exclusively field trips.
